:)A bit convoluted, but really good world building and interesting storyline. Locked in the sky, like water within clouds. It just felt so stilted to me and could have been edited down. I LOVED The Transient and I couldn't wait to read The Soul Keeper. Melodie and her 3 friends are a strongly knit group of (now) Seniors in High School that have been through quite a bit. The Soulkeepers is a must, must, must read. Their friendship is unbreakable. Welcome back. A good fun easy read. A beautiful and mysterious neighbor offers to use her unique abilities to help him find his mom. This is a fantasy novel that follows the taste of the good old traditional fantasy tales in the manner of Eddings, and Tolkien.

It does get quite a bit more gory and grotesque, but I can't wait for the next book "Ravencaller".Fun fantasy world with characters that I really got attached to by the end! Ms. Russell does a wonderful job of diving into the thick of the now changed situation at Heartworth Castle, and one can sense the ominous presence of that “something” that is about to happen, but stays safely tucked away until…well, until you read this book. I love Devin and Puffy and Tes but holy hell do I love Tommy more. The worldbuilding was nicely integrated with the religion, which plays a major part in the events of the story. I wasn't entirely sold on Jacaranda at first but as the book went on I actually found myself liking her a lot.
