3/5First off, the story itself was good enough, no problem there.Good idea, bad level design, but still recommend. Unlike the previous 3 Gears, this games 1st person campaign is probably it's best feature, and the option to have up to 3 friends playing with you in Co-Op mode is pretty awesome. Maybe survival mode could be more enjoyable with others, but overall, it's not a game mode you'd expect from Gears Of War, their past horde modes have left me with high expectations, of which were not met this time.
But in forcing this transition to faster-twitch-no-thought shooting, the game lost much of the methodical strategic aspects that made the previous installments special. Cons: you are so full of body armor you can't sprint, very limited ammo, swarms of enemies. Really can't speak too much ill of it either.Good idea, bad level design, but still recommend. Horde mode gave you 50 rounds and it could take you 3-4 hours or more on the harder difficulties, but Survival just seems to short and you are limited to the few classes. Can you say, "Let's milk this franchise one more time and take the money from the dedicated fans and run!"? What the heck were they thinking!? I enjoyed the story and gameplay. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations I like the product alott, this was a game that i wanted for a long time.Since i kept my xbox 360 i knew it would be a good choice. Each of us had played through the Gears of War, GoW 2 and GoW 3 campaigns. I've been a GoW fan since the first game was released back in 2006. I gave it 2 stars because it's not a Duke Nukem Forever kind of loss, but close to it.
Gears of War: Judgment takes place 14 years before the events of Gears of War 1, and throws Baird and Cole into the spotlight, along with new cadet Sofia Hendrik and the … And because it precedes the others chronologically, the narrative has no jeopardy, since all the main characters are certain to make it out alive. Judgment is mediocre. 3/5 The real problem here is Gears trying to be something it isn't, what with various tweaks to gameplay, such as classes. It's the same old scenario: just get a game out while the interest is still hot. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations The next game in the series, Gears of War: Judgment is a brand new story with developer People Can Fly, who made Bulletstorm, taking the lead with assistance from series originator Epic Games. The story alone is decent but it feels like it should have been DLC expansion to Gears of War 3 instead of a stand alone title. Most of the complaints with this game I've seen have to do with the changes to multiplayer, which makes sense, because any studio hand offs with franchises seem to have a shift in fanbase there. Rating this game 3 stars is difficult for me because Gears 2 & 3 are probably my favorite two shooters of all time. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Judgment is a GOOD game just not a great one. Really can't speak too much ill of it either. The way the game is designed feels very arcadey and focuses more on the action and scoring points rather than the plot which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you don't care too much for plot in the first place. I dunno, I guess I just loved 3's Horde mode so much.I'd only suggest buying for the campaign, not a fan of the survival mode. They took a lot, now I mean A LOT of things out from the previous games and mixed it up with a ton of different ideas.
Maybe wait until it's down to $3.99 in some bargain bin and then consider it. After seeing this trash in person they didn't want their name associated with it; let alone deal with all the hate from Gears veterans. They come out every so often, but for the most part are quiet and somewhat lacking. Gears of War: Judgment single-player review: weak prequel. When I look at the previous Gears games and then play Judgment, I feel as if they changed too much too fast. I would recommend this to any Gears of War fan, but wait until the price drops. But almost everything else about the game is well worth a look and goes a long way to showing that the Gears of War franchise still has the kind of allure that’s worthy of its reputation.
This game plays like a ghost recon, being that it is 3rd person point of view. Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. The stages in the campaign has zones where you can take on challenges that are completely optional but it adds more to your score and reveals a little more sub information about the story. I LOVE the Gears of War series but rgey changed up the controls a little in this one. For anyone who has never played a Gears game before, I recommend playing any of the previous games to understand why this game doesn't live up to it's predecessors. Judgment is a GOOD game just not a great one. Kids like this game. What hurts this game badly is it's Survival mode, it's just not good. Gears of War: Judgment is far from perfect and falls disappointingly short on the single-player front. This game has great graphics and detail, a lot of great unlockables and the campaign is pretty good all in all.
