This drop-in replacement will beautifully replace old chipped, crackled, or shedding original backglass. There are 39 ratings (that include a comment) on this game. The rules are easy to follow, light the letters, but I find enjoyment in the strategy of how to get them down. It's easy! Not too difficult either, I would say it is just right. I also like the early attempt at a ball save -- kind of a necessity considering you have to utilize the outlanes to complete "Silverball Mania." The stencil on the cabinet is also in my opinion ahead of it's time a bit with using some more advanced shapes/slightly more complex art.

This is how we, the very knowledgeable (wink wink) Pinside.com staff & moderators rate this game. Obviously it is a beautiful game. The middle outlanes feed to the between-the-flipper kickout - and, when set-up properly, there are big bonuses to be had between the horseshoe, standup and kicker.
Game play does not entirely meet the level of the beauty of the playfield and backglass. Enough has been said about this but I'll reiterate that in the 30+ years since released, you'd be hard-pressed to find a backglass, playfield, plastic themed package that outdoes this one. 10,350 of these machines made it through the doors of Bally in 1978. Seriously, it's amazing!

Lower is better. 2 of us have rated this game. All of the action seems to be at the bottom of the playfield, tough to get the ball up to the top playfield.

The objectives are perhaps a little too straight forward and you can destroy it by getting the hang of the horseshoe shot and just hammering it. This page was optimised for printing. Horseshoe loop is fast and rewarding when you can make it, dangerous when you miss. The playfield artwork is really amazing and shows Kevin O'Conner's talent strongly. If you miss the center loop, you're probably going to brick and drain. My personal record is 7 consecutive shots around the shoe and trapping the ball to do it again. Designed by the great Jim Patla and art package by Kevin O’Conner, this early wide body machine is a perfect match for the pinball trade as well as this museum. Overall, I'm happy I own this game and I'm proud of it's artwork package.

The game is pretty fun to play with straightforward rules. I think where this game falters is the fact that the rules aren't so good, even for it's time. I love the artwork, absolutely love the playfield and cabinet. If you complete this feat three times in a game, a built in carrier feature advances on the backglass and awards an operator-adjustable reward, classically three free games. The artwork was amazing, it really seemed to play fast and my God I wanted one.

The pops in the back are just there to take up space and the rest of the game is boring after the novelty of the kicker / horseshoe action wears off (or frustrates the hell out of the player!). Game play and lastability... meh. Once you get the hang of the horseshoe it gets boring pretty quick. The Silverball Mania coin-operated Pinball by Bally Manufacturing Co. Gorgeous art...backglass, playfield, and cabinet. Show off your love for the pinball hobby by wearing awesome pinball shirts. Also the backglass progressive spelling of silverball makes this a must play if you see one that's close. You need to be a member in order to leave a review.
