After reading a review of this DVD I was not expecting much but was very pleased to find that the print and sound was actually very satisfactory. A detective proves that a Robin Hood-type crook did not steal a metal formula. I read the first novel about "The Toff" and was so happy to find out that there was a movie about this sleuth! During the Cold War, a RN warrant officer stationed in the British Embassy in Warsaw leaks secrets to his Polish girlfriend who's a Soviet agent and after his transfer to a naval station in Britain he joins a Soviet spy ring. At least six early novels, namely Introducing the Toff, The Toff Steps Out, Here Comes the Toff, Salute the Toff, The Toff Proceeds, and The Toff Is Back, were adapted into a serial by Australia's Crawford Productions in the late 1940s. and the rest of the cast were excellent too.

I read the first novel about "The Toff" and was so happy to find out that there was a movie about this sleuth!

I enjoyed this entertaining and humorous little thriller, which was made back-to-back with 'Hammer The Toff' at Nettlefold Studios in 1951, and adapted from the novel by John Creasey. Great fun for watchers of good ol' light-hearted crime-thrillers. Marsh is probably best known for her role as the sweet but put-upon Rose in 'Brighton Rock', and here she is every bit as appealing in that wide-eyed innocent way she had about her.
