I don't know if they walked that back, but just the fact that they dropped it into the game in the first place...Eq2 is fun if you don't mind mostly soloing through. I own pretty much all the expansions save the last few, but I've never managed to get past the first twenty levels. You want everquest experience look up Project 1999, free to play, and is more everquest than everquest is now. I enjoyed EQ2 quite a bit. But it is fun if you don't mind that. Why not try alternatives GW2, LOTRO, FF14 are all good alternatives.

Go out and one-shot ten wolves. Where? In that way you have a chance to catchup. I even grouped up with other players to do dungeons together. I have the fondest memories in almost all of gaming with EverQuest 1. You can hire a mercenary NPC, which speeds up leveling by making all content trivial, so it's fast but not remotely challenging.

Since it's one of the oldest MMO's around, and still getting content updates, there's 20 years and thousands of hours of content to go through. That being said i was only a couple years old when it came out. Basically in a nutshell I want to know how the everquest series compares to wow in it's current state( not classic). I advise to probably find a guild to suite your play style.
