Without doubt, one of the most important if not THE most important significant and fascinating political episodes in the history of France, added to which this a film that shows these events and has big a cast that includes some of my favourite actors and actresses – Adèle Haenel, Andrzej Chyra (Katyn, Carte Blanche), Céline Sallette, Denis Lavant, Gaspard Ulliel, Izïa Higelin, Laurent Lafitte, Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Louis Garrel, Noémie Lvovsky, and Olivier Gourmet amongst others, made this a film that I was very keen to watch. For the first time not only the famous characters are seen played by men and women of the right age and look, but we see the Revolution through the eyes of ordinary people more than the famous. I have it on a Blu Ray bought in France, and it looks wonderful, so why only a dvd in the States?

A messy and uninteresting representation of events from the storming of the Bastille to the beheading of the King (which was presented with much gruesomeness as if it were the main highlight of an otherwise boring film).
