Carell reprises his role from the prequel 'Bruce Almighty' but this time he's a little more of a nicer guy. But shortly after moving to Washington, Evan receives a visit from God Himself. His Capitol office is also fantastic, but there's a catch: he's tapped by the powerful Congressman Long to co-sponsor a bill to allow development in national parks. When a shopping mall is taken over by a gang of organized crooks, it's up to a mild-mannered security guard to save the day. Overall, Carell does a good job but he's more in the 'Little Miss Sunshine' mode which brings 'Evan Almighty' down a notch because that kind of character doesn't fully work for this kind of film and it is Shadyac to be blamed for not making something better of something decent. The life of a businessman begins to change after he inherits six penguins, and as he transforms his apartment into a winter wonderland, his professional side starts to unravel.
