It’s a stupid, gross movie that was recommended to me by a friend probably because of its sheer ridiculousness, and I could see how it could be fun if you watch it that way, laughing at its misguided lessons, however it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth, thought it was too dumb to have fun with. Director Gene Kelly (SINGING IN THE RAIN) and everyone else involved in this star-studded comedy would be cancelled two minutes into it, as it freely preaches the virtues of cheating on your wife (with younger, hotter women, of course). Fun to see…Suffice to say, Hollywood will never remake A GUIDE FOR THE MARRIED MAN — or even program it in repertory theaters — even though it contains numerous bellylaughs. I believe there was also a female version of this years later.
