Soy fan de la película y creo que es una adaptación muy buena. Sintetizando al máximo diría que va de ladrones-yonkis o yonkis-ladrones, como quieras verlo (yo opto por la segunda). Drugstore Cowboy was a Gus Van Sant movie about a group of addicts that rob drug stores and hospitals to support their habit. If you're one of the so-called `art-film' aficionados who was disappointed, as I was, by Requiem for a Dream (and even if you weren't), you'll love Drugstore Cowboy. When one of them dies, he goes straight, but not everyone is eager to let him go. A young man who loiters in public places, such as on street corners or outside of drugstores, especially in the attempt to impress or woo young women. As far as I can tell, this book is set sometime during the late 60's or early 70's. It is strange rooting for someone who is clearly not a law abiding citizen and is ruining the lives of himself and others but Bob Hughes is someone you caJames Fogle writes from a personal perspective about a topic that most know little about; the life of a chronic junkie. This story follows the exploits of Bob and Diane.

And the idea is certainly interesting. It's a magnificent time capsule from the early seventies, having no reference to the Vietnam War, Kent State, or any other icon of the period. James Vogle wrote what he knew. Addicted to pharmaceuticals, they provide for themselves and their "crew" by robbing drugstores in whatever manner is needed.

"Drugstore Cowboy" is one of the best films in the long tradition of American outlaw road movies - a tradition that includes "Bonnie and Clyde," "Easy Rider," "Midnight Cowboy" and "Badlands."

His matter-of-fact outlook on life. I didn't know that James Fogle wrote it from a prison cell.Kind of beautiful in places, kind of tedious in places, in dire need of chapter breaks.True story...the movie is like a verbatim from the book...Fogle died in prison...still entertaining, if you like crazy stuff like this!!! But I didn't. Drugstore Cowboy is an excellent film that never got its dues for some reason. Yes it seems to be a look from the inside and has a fresh voice however it isn't well written, nor is it particularly engaging. A pharmacy-robbing dope fiend and his crew pop pills and evade the law.
