Randy was her best friend growing up, which is evidenced by the many diaries and journal that their mother kept. It’s fine to write a book about your troubled brother if you’re Diane Keaton and you find yourself with access to said brother’s papers, but I found it kind of icky as I read on.

Siblings Marcos and Susana are unable to heal the old wounds festering within them after the death of their mother. Laura’s conflict with her family and also with society, her conflict with self and also about her, and how the theme works in the story. I'm not certain Randy would have approved.

Library. I'm not familiar with Keaton's work and picked this up solely off of word-of-mouth. This is a very tearful book about the relationship between Diane Keaton and her younger brother, John Randolph Hall, known as Randy.

As Diane looks back upon her life with Randy, she includes journal entries, letters, photographs and artwork.
